Who is This?

True story

They went to a temple.

There were lots of statues.

There was one different statue.

She did not know which god it was.

She did not dare to ask.

He asked “who is this?”

They said “so and so god.”

She was angry.

She could never dare to ask like that.

They would scold her if she had.

They would shame her if she had.

They would say she shamed them if she had.

Such is the law.

A woman should know her gods.

She should be brought up well.

She should not be disrespectful.

She should be able to teach her children about gods.

She should know every god from her religion.

She should know every ritual there is.

A woman can never point to a god’s statue and ask “Who is this?”
